A new documentary about the great Mishigamaa – MICHIGAN: An American Portrait– a film that celebrates the history and legacy of Michigan, will make its national premiere at the Center on September 22.
Showcasing footage from more than 80 locations around the state, MICHIGAN: An American Portrait highlights Michigan’s cultural diversity, natural beauty, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative approach to business through breathtaking cinematography, compelling commentary, and historical archives. Accompanying the documentary footage is an emotionally evocative score from celebrated composer David Barrett and his Ann Arbor-based team.
The one-hour film is a collaboration between Duncan Entertainment Group, Crouse Entertainment Group, Crooked Tree Arts Center, and WGVU Public Media–PBS Grand Rapids.
The premiere event is underwritten by Petoskey Plastics, allowing proceeds to directly benefit youth programming for Great Lakes Center for the Arts' Next Gen Program and Crooked Tree Arts Center’s Classroom Docent Tour Program.
General admission includes the film screening and a live performance by composer David Barrett following the film. VIP tickets include the film screening, performance, and an afterglow reception with a champagne toast in which attendees will meet producers David Crouse and Chip Duncan, and David Barrett.
